REITs fell in October, with the FTSE Nareit Equity REITs Index recording a decline of 2.9 percent. REITs are up 10.1 percent, year-to-date, according to the index. The October decline followed a strong third quarter, which saw REITs rise 16.1 percent.
By property type, some of the strongest performances in September were recorded by data center REITs, up 5.3 percent. The sector has outperformed in 2024, rising 22 percent amid the artificial intelligence boom and other trends driving digitalization.
