A total of 41 new investment funds were launched during fourth quarter 2022, the second highest number of fund launches in 2022. The new investment funds are seeking to raise an aggregate of approximately $32.8 billion.

BentallGreenOak's BentallGreenOak Asia Fund IV was the largest fund launched in fourth quarter 2022. The value-added closed-end fund is seeking to raise approximately $5 billion and will invest in office, retail, multifamily residential, logistics and hospitality properties in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore. 

The second-largest fund to launch in fourth quarter 2022 was Ares Management’s Ares U.S. Real Estate Opportunity Fund IV. The opportunistic closed-end fund is seeking to raise approximately $3 billion in fundraising and will focus on investing in unconstrained
