ANREV’s Australian Farmland Index: A strong finish to 2020 with robust Q4 returns for Australian farmland investments

The fourth quarter of 2020 showed robust returns for managed investments in Australian farmland, rounding off a strong year for the asset class in 2020 despite the backdrop of COVID-19 and geopolitical uncertainties, according to the quarterly Australian Farmland Index compiled by the Asian Association for Investors in Non-Listed Real Estate Vehicles (ANREV).

In fourth quarter 2020, total returns amounted to 2.45 percent, up from 2.04 percent in the previous quarter, while income return totaled 1.06 percent, which represented an increase compared with 0.48 percent in the third quarter 2020. Capital growth saw a slight decrease to 1.39 percent over the quarter.
