AEG proposes $1.2b L.A. Convention Center expansion
The operator of the Los Angeles Convention Center, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), has proposed a $1.2 billion expansion of the convention center and the nearby JW Marriott L.A. Live hotel, according to The Los Angeles Times.
It would be carried out under a public-private partnership (P3).
The expansion would add approximately 350,000 square feet to the downtown complex, totaling 1.2 million square feet of total space, in addition to an 850-room hotel. If the plan is approved, it would add to the 5,000 or so hotel rooms available or under construction near the convention center, according to The Real Deal.
The convention center was last expanded in 1997.
