Kevin McTavish

Kevin McTavish has been an IREI board member for a decade. He has over 30 years of experience in the real estate covering a wide range of activities and assets, ranging from acquisitions, development, portfolio & asset management and dispositions. He began his career developing residential and industrial properties in Los Angeles. Subsequently, he focused on distressed and bankruptcy assets as a founder of Lone Star and then at Colony Capital. At Colony, he was a Principal and Chief Operating Officer, member of both the Investment Committee and Major Asset Review Committee as well serving on the boards of several publicly traded and private companies. He led Colony’s efforts to establish offices in Japan and Korea. Prior to Colony he worked for the Robert Bass Group in Ft. Worth, Texas where he was a founder of Lone Star Opportunity Fund. He held dual roles in Europe while with Westport Capital, responsible for both sourcing new investments and marketing/raising capital. Prior to a career in real estate, he served a tour in Naval Aviation as a Mission Commander on the P3 Orion aircraft. He earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, where he was a member of the varsity football team.
