Dragged down by the economic and financial market turmoil of 2008 and 2009, the institutional real estate market hit the comeback trail in 2010. Markets and investors regained their confidence, fueling higher levels of commitment activity and property transactions. Property performance rebounded, led by strong value appreciation in the core sector, and many investors’ portfolios climbed back into the black. After a year of market stabilization, pension fund investors should be primed and ready to increase their activity in 2011 … at least that is what you would think.
