The largest population subset is approaching a period in life that traditionally correlates with a transition to homeownership, but the barriers to purchase a house and benefits of apartments will prolong millennials’ renter cycle, according to Multifamily Population Trends, a report by Marcus & Millichap. Gen Z household creation, meanwhile, has been accumulating, as many lived with parents during the pandemic. The merger of these two groups will buoy apartment demand.
