U.K. logistics occupational market remains resilient despite rebalance in take-up levels

Take-up of U.K. logistics space totaled 7.67 million square feet for third quarter 2022, according to CBRE.

The aggregate for the first nine months of 2022 stands at 30.25 million square feet,  which equates to 95.8 percent of 2021 and 92.1 percent of the record-breaking year of 2020 for the same period, signaling the sector’s resilience.

This represents a decrease of 30 percent compared with third quarter 2021, which saw take-up reach 10.9 million square feet. A total of 29 deals have completed this quarter, a decrease of 25.6 percent compared with third quarter 2021, which saw 39 deals complete. Speculative schemes accounted for almost half of total take-up at 46.9 percent, followed by build-to-suit at 34.7 percent and secondhand accounting for the remaining 18.4 percent.
