Swedish real estate transaction activity reaches highest year on record

Approximately SEK 219 billion (€20.8 billion/$23.2 billion) was invested in Swedish real estate in 2019, making it the highest annual volume on record, reported Savills. The total exceeded the previous peak listing of 2016, which amounted to SEK 203 billion (€19.3 billion/$21.5 billion). And compared to 2018, activity increased by as much as 35 percent corresponding to an increase of SEK 57 billion (€5.4 billion/$6.0 billion), .

“We expect a continued strong transaction market in 2020. Periods that have included many portfolio transactions are usually followed by a transaction-intensive period in order to streamline our own portfolio. The supply of domestic and foreign capital remains very good, and the weak Swedish krona may increase interest from foreign capital,” said Peter Wiman, head of research at Savills.
