Survey of investor sentiment reveals satisfaction and plans to increase commitments to real estate

Investors are more optimistic about their prospects for capital commitments to real estate in 2025 compared with their actual commitments in 2024, according to the 2025 Institutional Real Estate Investor Trends, Institutional Real Estate, Inc.’s annual survey of global investor sentiment.

A total of 153 investors participated in the survey, which collected responses between November 2024 and January 2025; respondents had a total of $9.6 trillion in assets under management and $1.0 trillion in real estate assets undermanagement.

Globally, investors remain satisfied or neutral toward real estate. Asia Pacific stands out as an outlier, however, with investors in this region showing more dissatisfaction compared to those from other regions — 10 percent of Asia Pacific investors reported being extremely dissatisfied in 2024, and only 30 percent of investors in the region reported they were “somewhat satisfied.” Investors in the Americas were more likely to
