Survey finds fund managers are optimistic in 2024, particularly about alternative assets

Carne Group, a leader in fund regulation and governance solutions for the asset management industry, has put out new research indicating fund managers are optimistic and expect strong growth in 2024.

The research stems from a commissioning of 200 alternative asset, equity and fixed income fund managers in 10 countries, which collectively manage $1.6 trillion.

Of the managers surveyed, 83 percent said they expect new capital into their funds and segregated accounts to increase in 2024. Some 73 percent said they anticipate that more funds in their sector will launch this year than in 2023, with 14 percent expecting a dramatic increase in fund launches.

When asked which alternative asset class will see the biggest fundraising increase in 2024, fund managers said private equity would be number one, with renewable energy following close behind.
