Self-storage REITs outperform in October

For the second consecutive month, self-storage REITs had the best performance of any property category, rising nearly 4.9 percent in October, while the FTSE Nareit Equity REITs Index fell 2.6 percent. The S&P 500 Index fell nearly 2.8 percent in October.

Self-storage continues to be a category that is well positioned amid an economic downturn. Self-storage REITs rose 3.7 percent in September. And the sector has seen quite a bit of investment activity, on both the public and private side.
