The high-tech industry in San Francisco is three times larger today than it was at the height of the dot-com era in 2000, according to CBRE.
Over the past 10 years, the industry has added 78,400 jobs, accounting for two-thirds of new office-using jobs and half of all new jobs created. At the same time, the banking/finance and legal industries have contracted by 4,400 jobs. Further tech industry growth is expected with tech companies having leased more than 3 million square feet for future expansion, enough for about 15,000 more jobs.
