Retail market to experience growth in 2015

With a brightening economic outlook, the retail market in major metros in the United States is looking positive for 2015, according to a recent report published by Marcus & Millichap.

The report ranks 46 major metro areas in the United States based on indicators such as forecast employment growth, vacancy, construction and rents. The ranking is designed to indicate relative supply and demand conditions at the market level.

Across the country, most major areas are going to experience growth in the retail sector through 2015. With the economy progressing and unemployment rates declining, people have more discretionary income they can put toward retail purchases, according to the report.

Drug stores, grocery stores and big-box retailers will be leading the market in 2015. As more people receive healthcare coverage, doctor visits, and therefore pharmacy visits, will increase. Lower gas prices provide consumers with more income to allocate toward groce
