NCREIF Farmland Index records 1.32% in Q1/2018

The NCREIF Farmland Index, produced by the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries, recorded a first quarter 2018 return of 1.32 percent, down from 2.93 percent in the fourth quarter 2017, but slightly higher than the 1.02 percent during the third quarter 2017. The Q1/2018 number was comprised of a 0.51 percent income return and appreciation of 0.81 percent.

Looking at performance on a regional basis, the Delta States posted the highest return in the first quarter 2018 at 2.06 percent, followed by Southern Plains (1.46 percent), Pacific West (1.40 percent), Pacific Northwest (1.34 percent), Mountain (1.19 percent), Southeast (0.94 percent), Corn Belt (0.67 percent), and Lake States (–0.42 percent).
