Kendall Thomas Sr., former Austin Police board member, passes away

Kendall Thomas Sr. a prominent public employee retirement sector figure, died on Oct. 11, 2023. He was a longtime member of the Texas Association of Public Employee Retirement Systems, including serving as a former board member, in the pension fund’s statement.

In 1980, Thomas assumed a pivotal role in retirement systems when he became a member of the board of directors of the Austin Police Retirement System. His involvement marked a transformative moment, instrumental in establishing the system as an independent entity separate from the City of Austin's administration.
