Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) posted a record return of 19.76 percent in 2019, according to a financial update from executive director Brian Collins.
The pension fund also saw a significant increase on its assets from $38.8 billion in 2018, to $44.6 billion at year-end 2019.
At the end of 2019, IMRF was 91 percent funded actuarially.
As of Sept. 30, 2019, IMRF had a 6.7 percent actual allocation ($2.8 billion) to the real estate asset class, with a target of 9 percent.
