The coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent lockdown restrictions that were imposed have affected office take-up levels in first half 2020, according to Savills. After a strong start to the year — in the first quarter, take-up volumes were 18 percent above the long-term average — unsurprisingly, office take-up recorded in second quarter 2020 was down 73 percent on the long-term average. After combining the two quarters, first half 2020 take-up reached 1.1 million square feet, which was 28 percent below the long-term average.
