Global real estate AUM reaches €3.9t in 2022, Asia Pacific investors step into the limelight

Total global real estate assets under management reached €3.9 trillion ($4.2 trillion) in 2022, second only to the 2021 year-end record high of €4.1 trillion ($4.4 trillion), according to the Fund Manager Survey 2023, published by ANREV, INREV and NCREIF.

The survey notes a clear accumulation of capital within the larger fund managers globally, with 80 percent of 2023’s total assets under management, €3.1 trillion ($3.3 trillion), concentrated within the top quartile by a number of fund managers. The top 10 managers had more than €1.8 trillion ($2 trillion) of total assets under management, compared with €1.7 trillion ($1.8 trillion) in 2022. This accounts for 47 percent of the total global assets under management, up from 41 percent in 2021.

The top three global fund managers remained the same as in 2021, although individual assets under management have increased substantially. Blackstone leads with €475 billion ($513 billion), followed by Brook
