European real estate investors now the most active group in London

Investors based in Europe were the most active investors in London real estate in first half 2020. European investment accounted for 39 percent (£1.17 billion/€1.31 billion/$1.54 billion) of all activity, compared to a 14 percent market share by investors originating from Asia (£428 million/€479 million/$565 million), according to Savills. U.K.-based investors accounted for 33 percent of all activity, spending just over £1 billion (€1.12 billion/$1.32 billion) in total.

A total of £2.9 billion (€3.25 billion/$3.83 billion) was invested in London’s commercial property market in first half 2020 — less than half the volume recorded a year previously, when £5.2 billion (€5.82 billion/$6.87 billion) was invested in London property in first half 2019.
