Alterra IOS’s Leo Addimando discusses sustainability and infrastructure in U.S. industrial real estate

In May 2025, Alterra IOS — a company focused on the industrial outdoor storage sector —unveiled a $40 million soil clean-washing facility in South Philadelphia, developed in partnership with Eco Materials, a leader in construction resource recovery. The Wash Plant offers a sustainable solution for reclaiming and repurposing sand, aggregate, and construction waste through an advanced wet-washing process. The facility is designed to extract impurities, contaminants, and aggregates from excavated and contaminated soil, remediating and repurposing more than 85 percent of incoming soil, gravel, sand, and stone for reuse in public works, infrastructure, landscaping, and construction projects.
