AEW has acquired a fully leased data center asset in the heart of the Nuremberg metropolitan area, Germany. The acquisition was made on behalf of a strategy for French retail investors focusing on diversified investments in the German real estate market. It marks AEW’s first investment in the rapidly growing German data center asset class.
Through this investment, AEW is capitalizing on rising demand for data storage driven by trends such as automation, digitalization and AI. The global market for leased data centers is expected to grow at an annual rate of 14 percent through 2030. As the largest data center market in the European Union in terms of capacity, Germany’s market valuation is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8.9 percent by 2030.
