Yardi Matrix in a report identified three scenarios of impact. In the first, AI replaces large segments of the workforce, leading to a significant contraction in office employment. In the second, AI boosts productivity by augmenting workers rather than fully replacing them, allowing firms to eliminate some roles while retaining much of their workforce. In the third scenario, the costs of AI implementation ultimately outweigh the benefits, resulting in a technology bubble marked by failed investments, premature layoffs and a period of economic slowdown with elevated unemployment.
