The Risks of Following the Herd in Real Estate webinar takes place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 3:00 pm BST.
The discussion will explore the tendency for investors to follow prevailing market sentiment, often with unintended consequences. We plan to examine historical examples of herd behavior in real estate and discuss the lessons they offer for today’s market. The conversation will also highlight current opportunities and risks, with particular focus on residential sectors and alternative property types.

José Pellicer leads the development and articulation of Evonite’s investment and ESG strategies. He also chairs the firm’s Investment Committee and oversees marketing and communications. Prior to Evonite, Pellicer was the global head of investment strategy at M&G Real Estate, where he chaired the Global Investment Committee and was a member of the Executive Board. From 2004–2007 and 2011–2017, he worked at Rockspring Property Investment Managers as head of research. He was made partner in 2015. After the acquisition of Rockspring by Patrizia, Pellicer became Patrizia’s global head of research and a member of Patrizia’s Senior Leadership Group. He has also worked for Goldman Sachs, AEW Europe and Deutsche Bank.

Sonia González Valverde has a long career as an investment professional, institutional investor and board member. She is currently an independent board member of Rockfield Real Estate and an independent supervisory board member of Care Property Invest. González Valverde was most recently employed full-time as head of global real estate investments at Shell Asset Management, where she managed the global real estate portfolios of Shell pension funds. Prior employers included CBRE IM and ING Real Estate. Since 2019, she has been an active member of INREV. She holds a master’s degree in economics and business administration from ETEA, Loyola University of Andalucia, in cooperation with E.S.S.E.C., Grande Ecole de Commerce de Paris; a Certificate in Global Management from INSEAD; and an International Directors Certificate from INSEAD.

Ben Sanderson is managing director and head of the U.K. business for Sentinel Real Estate — a New York City–headquartered multifamily specialist fund manager with $9 billion AUM. He has more than 25 years of experience in global real estate, investing in private and public real estate across both equity and debt. Prior to joining Sentinel in December 2025, Sanderson worked for Aviva Investors, where he was managing director leading the global real estate and infrastructure businesses. His role involved delivering investment performance and managing the implementation of real estate and infrastructure investments, investing across a range of risk profiles across the United Kingdom and Europe.

Stephen Tross has been CIO at Bouwinvest for the last 16 years, overseeing all the international investments. As of May 1, 2026, he is a non-executive board member and senior adviser to Genesta Nordic Property. Prior to Bouwinvest, Tross was responsible for the real estate audit practice of KPMG in the Netherlands and worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Netherlands, New York and London. He is a professional member of the British Institution of Chartered Surveyors; has extensive board experience, both for corporates and for real estate industry organizations; and is past chair of the Management Board of ANREV.
