Fundraising activity remained muted for the second consecutive quarter, following a record-setting volume of $63.6 billion recorded in first quarter 2019. A total of 22 private equity real estate funds reached final closings during the third quarter, raising an aggregate of $19.9 billion, up slightly from the $19.3 billion raised in the second quarter.

A total of 38 new investment funds were launched during third quarter 2019, continuing the rollercoaster of investment fund launchings. This hasn’t been the highest number of fund launchings in the last year, but the number does surpass the number of funds launched in second quarter 2019, 29 funds, and the number of funds launched in third quarter 2018, 35 funds.
