You read it here first: The biggest uncovered business story of the year

Too often as business professionals we focus on the here and now, whether it’s monthly jobs reports, central banking moves on interest rates or bigger political issues such as Brexit, presidential elections and other global events. With this heavy emphasis on the micro, severity of the issues notwithstanding, sometimes we miss other important macro events that will have the most long-term effect on our lives, both professionally and personally.

One of these macro events that hasn’t received much coverage was an announcement by Alphabet, Inc, parent company of the search engine Google, that searches on mobile devices surpassed those on traditional laptop and desktop computers for the first time last autumn. This announcement was handled more like an “aside” than the monumental shift that it really is. What this means is that, along with so many other shifts in human behaviour, this particular change shows just how much we’re moving into a new dynamic in terms of cult
