Urban examination: The key factors fuelling success in Europe’s most dynamic cities

Urbanisation, new technology and changing demographics are just a few of the factors driving rapid changes in Europe’s real estate sector. Despite this fluid environment, however, the continent’s premier cities are still largely succeeding in maintaining their leading positions.

The results from Savills Investment Management’s Dynamic Cities Index report for 2018 show that eight of the top 10 entries in 2018 retained their top-tier status from the previous year, amid a general trend of improving scores. The index ranked London first for a second consecutive year, followed by Cambridge, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin and Munich. Basel, Oxford and Stockholm were this year’s newcomers.

The report analyses and ranks 130 European cities across six categories (innovation, inspiration, inclusion, interconnection, investment and infrastructure), and highlights those cities that are able to attract and retain talent, spur innovation and increase productivity,
