The Year Ahead: What’s in Store for Asia Pacific Investors in 2011 and Beyond

Experts agree that most of Asia is now firmly on the road to recovery from the global economic crisis. Even so, there could be some speed bumps and double dips on the road ahead. Fundamentals should continue to improve, and declining vacancy rates will likely lead to above-average rental growth during the next two years. But investors should exercise caution while navigating Japan, a few overheated residential markets or several oversupplied office markets.

It hasn’t exactly been a smooth ride, but Asia Pacific investors have arrived safely in 2011, and now the question is: Where do we go from here? To find out, we tapped the vast investment and research experience of several real estate experts to provide the most likely scenarios of what lies ahead. Continuing global uncertainty will no doubt impact Asian real estate markets in the short term, but investors who selectively acquire real estate in the right markets will be rewarded over the long run.
