Structuring Real Estate: Investments in China Paths to the Top of the Mountain

1 China has become a destination for international real estate investors, ranging from financial institutions to private equity funds, and from sovereign wealth funds to real estate developers. Investors are attracted by a market characterized by both rapid growth and scale. A developing economy with the scale of China offers investors the opportunity to create attractive and substantial investment platforms of multiple investments across wide geographical areas. Investors entering China for the first time, however, often find the process of successfully structuring and completing deals a daunting task. NO STANDARD STRUCTURE AVAILABLE Structuring and completing a successful real estate investment in China requires creativity, flexibility and patience. These ingredients are necessary because there is not yet one simple template or structure for undertaking commercial real estate investments in China.
