Shining lights: Innovation serves to future-proof dynamic European cities

Relentless global urbanisation means that the investment potential of cities is high on real estate investors’ agendas.

This potential is closely linked to cities’ adaptability to ongoing structural changes, such as disruptive technology, ageing populations and environmental challenges.

The Savills Investment Management Dynamic Cities index was launched three years ago to assess European cities’ longer-term upwards growth potential through statistical analysis of 60 indicators across six categories. Each of the groupings — infrastructure, interconnection, inspiration, inclusion, innovation and investment — was given equal weighting.

Out of these categories, it is innovation which serves to future-proof dynamic cities, by attracting talent and driving wealth and spending power. Together, these qualities fuel cities’ long-term investment potential.
