Real estate one of the top three favoured asset classes

by Marek Handzel

BlackRock’s annual survey of global institutional investors has found that real estate is one of the top three most favoured asset classes for 2019. 54 percent of the investors questioned by the manager have said that they intend to increase exposure to real assets, while 47 percent are to allocate more capital to private equity, and 40 percent to real estate. Globally, over half of BlackRock’s clients view the possibility of the cycle turning as one of the most important macro risks influencing their rebalancing plans. 39 percent of the survey’s 230 respondents are from the US and Canada, 37 percent from EMEA, 13 percent from Asia Pacific and 11 percent from Latin America. They represent over $7 trillion (€6.1 trillion) in investable assets globally.
