The façade of the Huntdertwarsser house in Vienna. A favourite with sightseers, the building was designed by the expressionist artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Vienna was recently named the world’s most liveable city in Mercer’s Quality of Living city survey for the ninth year in a row. The Austrian capital was praised for its “high security, well-structured public transportation, and variety of cultural and recreation facilities”. The consultancy firm ranked Zurich in second place and Auckland and Munich in joint third place. Baghdad, in Iraq, was at the bottom of the list in 231st place.
