Europe remains top destination for outbound Asian capital

Europe remained the top destination for Asian outbound capital in the first half of 2019, according to a recent report by CBRE.

The adviser says that 37 percent of total outbound Asian investment targeted EMEA between January and June, totalling $7.2 billion (€6.5 billion). Korean and Singaporean investors have reaffirmed their status as Asia’s leading sources of capital, accounting for 67 percent and 15 percent of total cross-border Asian investment into Europe, respectively.

Korean investors also contributed the largest portion of total outbound flows in the first half of 2019. Led by large pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and, more recently, asset management and securities companies, Korean investors have doubled their purchasing activity within two years to $6.8 billion (€6.2 billion).
