New frontiers in office: Africa is home to top emerging markets for office investments

Africa contains six of the top 10 most efficient and transparent emerging markets for office investment worldwide, according to a new report from Cushman & Wakefield titled Emerging and Frontier Markets: Assessing Risk and Opportunity, including the top four emerging markets for office investment. (Note that Cushman & Wakefield no longer includes the BRIC economies in its grouping of emerging markets, as these countries have already largely emerged.)

The report points to the continent’s strong GDP growth, expected to be 4 percent continent-wide in 2014 and 5 percent in 2015, according to the International Monetary Fund.

Botswana, due to its strong relative stability and high levels of current office supply, was the top nation on the index, which looks at conditions such as transparency and corruption as well as economic and political stability. Botswana was followed on the index by South Africa, Zambia and Ghana.
