Long Harbour secures £300m seed capital into housing fund

by Marek Handzel and Andrea Zander

Long Harbour has secured a £300 million (€360 million) equity seed investment from South Korea’s National Pension Service for its £1.6 billion (€1.9 billion) UK single family housing fund.

Following the fund’s successful first close, Long Harbour will target of up to £600 million (€720 million) of single-family housing assets from 2025, with the next close expected later on in 2025. The fund will be acquiring forward-funding, forward-purchase and standing-stock opportunities in the first instance, targeting new-build family homes across the United Kingdom, with a focus on the South and South East of England.

Long Harbour says the need for single-family housing across the United Kingdom is as high as ever. In a media release, it cites a Colliers’ April 2023 English Housing Survey, which showed the net number of private rental sector homes had shrunk in 2023 by 81,000 since 2016, while demand for rental properties had increased by 51 percent.
