Issues of the day: Confab debates strategic planning, standardization, disclosure, risk and portfolio management, market opportunities
1 Within 24 hours of this writing, we will be opening up the first session of our Spring 2013 Editorial Advisory Board meeting, being held this week at the Biltmore in Santa Barbara, Calif. Joining us at the board meeting will be 23 investors, 11 consultants, and 36 investment managers. As always, these meetings consist of a combination of small breakout group discussions and larger full-group debates on topical issues submitted by the participants. This spring’s discussion topics include the following: Strategic planning: Most of the investors and investment managers in the room are charged with (or are supposed to be contributing to the completion of) this mission-critical task. Unfortunately, most spend far too little time actually engaged in it. We will be exploring both the risks and opportunities everyone is facing in the industry and markets today — and the implications for strategic planning purposes.
