Investors committed more capital to real estate in 2021 than they had initially expected, and U.S. investors expect to allocate even more to the asset class in 2022. That is among the key findings of the 26th annual investor survey — 2022 Institutional Investors Real Estate Trends — published by Institutional Real Estate, Inc., based on a questionnaire designed by IREI and Kingsley, a Grace Hill Company. The survey was conducted by IREI’s data services department, with limited support from a team of undergraduate students from St. Mary’s College, supervised by Dr. Lawrence Souza, DBA.

The purpose of these annual surveys is to identify and understand the investment trends driving the decisions of the largest and most influential real estate investors.
