Investors plan to invest at least €60b into global real estate

Institutional investors plan to invest at least €60.1 billion into global real estate this year. The 2022 Investment Intentions Survey published by ANREV, INREV and PREA, says that the majority of respondents believe the COVID-19 crisis will not impact their investment plans for the coming year.

Investors have also told the three industry bodies that there is an average gap of 120 basis points between current (8.9 percent) and target (10.1 percent) allocations to real estate. 61 percent of all surveyed investors expect their allocation to real estate to increase over the next two years.

In 2022, 38 percent of planned capital deployments is targeting Europe, 39 percent the United States, and 21 percent Asia Pacific. Of the total expected volume of institutional investments this year, 41 percent is earmarked for non-listed real estate funds and 30 percent is planned for other non-listed real estate vehicles.
