Commercial real estate faces a wide sweep of issues that will affect the industry in the years to come, over both the long and short term. In June, The Counselors of Real Estate released its annual survey of members to identify the most important issues influencing the industry.

“Many of these issues are interrelated and thus influence one another,” says Julie Melander, CRE, who is serving as the organization’s 2019 chair. “Clients of Counselors seek unbiased, objective advice on the critical factors that will impact all property sectors today, as well as those issues that may affect their decisions over the next 10 years. This thought leadership initiative is an invaluable service to those clients and to the real estate industry in general.”

The following is a list of current and emerging issues expected to have the most significant impact on real estate in 2019 and 2020, as identified by the 1,100 members of The Counselors of Real Estate.
