Over the past few years, Australia has benefited from a strong increase in foreign investment in the property market. Although a large portion of capital has come from China, other nations have more recently looked to Australia as an attractive investment proposition. The investment case for Australian assets continues to remain strong on a global basis, with a healthy economy to support growth.

Economic conditions have been favourable, benefiting from record-low interest rates, low unemployment and a pipeline of increased infrastructure spending. GDP growth of 2.9 percent was recorded in 2017–2018, following a 2.1 percent increase in 2016–2017. Australia is now entering its 28th year of consecutive growth and, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, is the only country in the developed world with an uninterrupted period of economic growth during the past 27 years.
