Building trust: Relationships, transparency and alignment of interests are key for members of the Editorial Advisory Board

by Andrea Zander and Loretta Clodfelter

The fall 2025 Editorial Advisory Board meeting for the Institutional Real Estate Americas publication was held Sept. 9–11 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn in San Diego, and the conversations held by the members of the board will drive editorial content in this publication for the next year.

Key conversations were held around the topic of relationships between limited and general partners in real estate funds, as well as investment manager best practices. In an open forum discussion, limited partners (LPs) expressed candid views about the current fundraising environment, citing redemption queues and strategies for generating returns. They also stressed the importance of transparency, from navigating down markets to personnel updates, such as analyst departures. Some members shared details of allocation plans for the coming years, with most noting that they intend to maintain, rather than increase or decrease, their real estate allocations.
