A total of 33 new investment funds were launched during second quarter 2023, on par with the totals for second quarter 2022. The new investment funds are seeking to raise an aggregate of approximately $30.4 billion.
Oaktree Capital Management’s Oaktree Real Estate Debt Fund IV was the largest fund to launch during second quarter 2023. The fund is seeking to raise approximately $3 billion of capital. The Oaktree debt series focuses on six investment areas, including commercial real estate, real estate corporate investments, structured finance, commercial NPLs, residential real estate and non-U.S. real estate.
The second-largest fund to launch in second quarter 2023 was GLP Capital Partners’ GLP Capital Partners V. GLP Capital Partners has set a $2.75 billion capital raising target. The closed-end fund will invest in industrial and logistics assets in the United States.
