2022 outlook and megatrends to watch

As investors increase their allocations to most asset classes, the investment world is accelerating, converging and decarbonising, according to BlackRock’s 2022 Private Markets Outlook: Resilience and adaptation.

According to the report, the COVID age has accelerated trends, including the use of technology across all businesses, changes in healthcare and healthcare delivery, new consumption and living patterns. The firm sees this in private equity and credit, and in real estate sectors such as residential and logistics.

At the same time, private markets are converging as they develop, making them an increasingly important source of capital compared to public markets. But while private markets benefit from a greater pool of potential investments, participants need to be able to address both public and private, or risk losing an investment relationship with a strong corporate.
