Walton Street Capital holds $1.3b final close

Walton Street Capital, a private equity real estate investment firm, has held a final close for Walton Street Real Estate Fund VIII, raising $1.3 billion in total equity commitments.

Walton Street Real Estate Fund VIII was seeking to raise $1.5 billion. The value-added/opportunistic fund will invest in major U.S. markets. The fund is already approximately 50 percent committed for investment.

The fund held a $689 million initial close in 2015, which was the largest first closing in the firm’s history, according to IREI’s FundTracker database. It has received commitments from the $13.3 billion Maine Public Employees Retirement System and the $8.3 billion Public Safety Personnel Retirement System of Arizona.
