The $76.9 billion Virginia Retirement System (VRS) has committed $75 million to the open-end fund Harrison Street Core Property Fund, on behalf of its real assets portfolio.
The commitment closed on March 27.
Harrison Street is an investment management firm exclusively focused on alternative real assets. According to its website, the firm has invested $33.8 billion across senior housing, student housing, healthcare delivery, life sciences and storage real estate, as well as social and utility infrastructure.
VRS’s investment report noted Harrison Street Core Property Fund focuses on core investments in alternative real estate property types in the United States.
VRS has an 11.2 percent actual allocation to real assets against a 14.5 percent
