Virginia Retirement System commits $200m to AMLI Residential fund

Virginia Retirement System (VRS) announced a $200 million commitment to AMLI Residential III, a joint venture with AMLI, a private real estate development company. This commitment was made on Aug. 26, according to the meeting minutes from the VRS Board of Trustees meeting.

AMLI Residential owns and manages more than 25,000 units of apartment properties in eight U.S. markets. AMLI Residential III is a joint venture focused on core, class A apartment properties in the United States.

Virginia Retirement System is a public pension fund that provides retirement and other benefits to Virginia’s public employees. Out of VRS’s $107.8 billion total assets, 13.5 percent is allocated to real assets. As of 2023, VRS has $14 billion invested in real assets.
