UPDATE: Fir Tree raises $300 million for its third fund

Fir Tree Partners has raised more than $300 million for its third fund Fir Tree Real Estate Fund III, reaching more than half of its fundraising goal of $500 million. The value-added/opportunistic fund was launched on Feb. 1, 2013.

Fir Tree Real Estate Fund III has a broad real estate mandate, investing in assets, loans and companies.

Fir Tree launched its first real estate fund, Fir Tree Mortgage Opportunity Fund, in 2008 and raised approximately $ $400 million in commitments for the vehicle. The fund invested its capital in mortgage-related opportunities, which includes senior, high quality mortgage securities, structured products, and other areas that are related to the fallout in the US mortgage market.

Fir Tree’s second fund Real Estate Opportunity Fund II
