Since the establishment of the Royal Exchange at the end of the 17th century, London has been a prominent global financial hub and a key player in the financial sector. London’s significance in this sector is exemplified by its well-established legal landscape, strong infrastructure and diversified financial institutions. The U.K. capital is home to a plethora of banks, non-bank lenders and private equity houses looking to fund their next investment, whether that be in the United Kingdom, Europe or the Middle East. By the end of June 2021, it was estimated that the United Kingdom’s banking sector accounted for assets worth £10.3 trillion (€12.03 trillion/$13.03 trillion).
