The $66.1 billion Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) of the State of Illinois has committed $100 million to Gateway Real Estate Fund VII, a Hong Kong–based fund managed by Gaw Capital Partners.
Gaw Capital Partners is a private equity fund management company focused on real estate markets in Asia Pacific and other high barrier-to-entry markets globally. The firm's investments span the entire spectrum of real estate sectors, including residential development, offices, retail malls, hospitality, logistics warehouses and internet data center projects.
Gateway Real Estate Fund VII opened to investors late in 2021, and by November already had held its first close, bringing the total equity raised for the fund to $1.2 billion, with an additional $400 million raised for sidecar co-investment available. The fund has a $2.5 billion hard cap.
