Tokyo’s Olympic dreams put on hold

The Olympic Games are viewed the world over as a symbol of unity, a coming together of nations. Now, though, as more governments tell their citizens to stay at home to help prevent further spread of the novel coronavirus disease COVID-19, there is still such a sense of disbelief at how long this pandemic outbreak will last, given the staggered and varied levels of response to this global health crisis from world nations.

It is hard to wrap one’s head around the fact that the 2020 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games, set for July 24 through Aug. 9 in Tokyo, will be postponed to 2021. Games such as these always help showcase a nation to the world, along with all of its infrastructure and commercial real estate developments prior to the events.
